"We stand now where two roads diverge. But unlike the roads in Robert Frost's familiar poem, they are not equally fair. The road we have long been traveling is deceptively easy, a smooth superhighway on which we progress with great speed, but at its end lies disaster. The other fork of the road — the one less traveled by — offers our last, our only chance to reach a destination that assures the preservation of the earth."
~ Rachel Carson, Silent Spring

Dear friends of Capra Course,

We are happy to announce that the Fall 2022 Capra Course registrations are now open. If you enjoyed the course and think as we do, that this course is a must for anyone who believes that changing the world is not only possible but necessary, share the news with them:

The Capra Course includes 12 weeks of pre-recorded lectures with subtitles in Spanish and Italian, and access to forums and study groups. We offer two opening and two closing circles with Fritjof and all those who complete the course are transferred to our Alumni Network, where they can continue the conversation.

In an increasingly complex world where we have ongoing inequality, the threat of climate change, resource depletion and war, it is more important than ever that we understand how systems work and how we can both learn from life and support changes that bring about fair distribution of resources, a caring relationship with Nature and each other, healing and resilience for both communities and ecosystems.

The Capra Course is not only about understanding systems but about joining a growing community of systems thinkers.

Looking for dedicated volunteers for the Fall 2022 Study Groups:

This is a new addition to the course that has emerged organically and now is a valuable part of the course itself. Study group leaders support participants in their exploration and learning and are fundamental in the creation of new communities of systems thinkers. Fritjof usually attends a meeting with each study group and enjoys the diversity and culture that develops in each group.
If you are considering volunteering to be a study group leader/facilitator, please note the requirements:
  • Have completed a Capra Course in the past
  • Have some experience with group dynamics or facilitation or the willingness to learn and adapt
  • Be able to dedicate at least two hours a week for the 12 weeks of the course (this is a rough calculation of how much time may take to plan and holding each meeting, you may need more time to watch the lectures and read the materials)
  • Be familiar and comfortable with virtual communication platforms such as Zoom, Discord, Google Hangouts, etc.
  • Be disciplined in your communications with bo0th our course coordinator and the participants who register to your group
If you have what it takes and are curious about this, please fill out this form and let us know your availability. Please note that study groups are subject to the number of registered participants, we cannot guarantee that you will have enough participants.

Exploring similar courses

If you enjoyed the Capra Course, you would probably appreciate learning about patterns and how we can change them. The Principles and Practices for Deep Transformation: laying the groundwork for an ecological civilization with Jeremy Lent is still accepting registrations. You can choose from three different tiers and register until April 18.

Our videos database
